bad data point. I'd love to believe that the positive
outcome of this mistake is that more people
deploy their own sensors to protect against it
happening again - please prove me right. 36 [ our

Geigermaps: at a glance” application
The owner of the faulty counter here stresses the need to
compare several data sources to avoid giving too much
weight to any single source.
Once the radiation data were extracted or produced, three
stances emerged with regard to the use of the data in the
mashup maps. In response to the mistrust of official and
TEPCO data, some cartographers chose to only use
measurements from alternative sources. In contrast, some
argued that the latter were unreliable and focused on official
data for their maps, while acknowledging their limitations.
Finally, a third category of cartographers decided to address
the urgent need for information on the development of the
situation by combining all the available types of data, then
found other selection criteria.
