In-Depth Information
This study clearly demonstrates the advantage of the assimilation of the
radiance data along with GTS observations within the WRF framework in the
prediction of very severe cyclonic storm Thane. However, to further support
this conclusion, more cyclone case studies and use of Indian satellite radiance
with advance 4DVAR/EnKF assimilation system are required.
Acknowledgement
The authors thank NCEP/NCAR which made available FNL analyses, radiance
observations, WRF and 3DVAR modelling system, used in the present study.
We also thank the IMD for providing observation data to validate the model
results of this experiment. We express our sincere thanks to anonymous
reviewers for their valuable comments and suggestions for improvement of
the paper.
