5. Results
The results of the analysis are summarized in Table 1.
6. Conclusion
The initiation of the cyclone 'Aila' over the Bay of Bengal was during 04-08
UTC of 24 May, 2009; the lowest central pressure of 966.6 hPa was found for
KFWSM3 which was close to estimated central pressure of IMD; the
distribution pattern WS, VV and vorticity were favourable for rapid
intensification of the system over the Bay of Bengal; simulated maximum winds
were higher than observed wind of IMD in all cases but the simulated value of
39.4 ms
-1
through KFWSM3 was close to observed value; the rate of dissipation
after landfall was exceptionally lower than the intensification before landfall
of cyclone 'Aila'.
