In order to compute PET, wind speed and mean radiant temperature had to be
previously modeled.
- Wind speed: as wind varies considerably both in time and in space, this
parameter was assessed using the numeric model of microclimatic simulation called
ENVI-met
[BRU 98; BRU 99]. The simulation was carried out in a 3D grid that
included buildings and vegetation. Wind speed and direction were estimated for
each grid unit, for each value of speed and direction at the airport meteorological
station (Lisboa/Gago Coutinho) [AND 08].
- MRT was modeled using
RayMan
[MAT 00; MAT 07] and the validation of
this parameter was performed by comparing estimated and measured values [AND
08].
