4.1.
Temporal variations of observed and modeled gases
pollutants and PM
10
concentrations in Korea
Figure 3 shows the time variation of the modeled and observed daily mean
SO
2
,NO
2
,O
3
,andPM
10
concentrations averaged over South Korea for the
period from 1 to 31 March 2002. The model simulates quite well the tem-
poral variations of observed concentrations. However, the model underesti-
mates the observed NO
2
concentration significantly. This might be mainly
due to the underestimation of NO
x
emission rate. The simulated SO
2
,O
3
,
and PM
10
concentration closely matches observations in South Korea. The
PM
10
concentration during the Asian dust period from 19 to 22 March 2002
