of the top of piles can be limited within the allowable displacement. Therefore, the size
ofthesteelpipeswasdesignedtoreducethegrounddisplacementtolessthan50cm.The
steelpipesselectedwere1200mmindiameter,22mminthicknessand29mindepth,as
showninFigure16.11.Thesesteelpipeswereinstalledcontinuouslytomakeapreventa-
tive wall, as shown in Photo16.1.
