sidered to be more fundamental and less variable than undrained strength parameters.
Both approaches, however, have their share of difficulties when applied to peat. For
instance in fibrous peat there are complications in the effective strength parameters
due to fibre content. Edil (1997) reported that one could have nearly zero effective
confining pressure or even tension at failure in fibrous peat.
