We had a pleasant, if brief conversation, talking among other things about our mutual fondness for Big
Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. I relished the opportunity to personally thank him for all he had
done. As I shook his hand, though, I couldn't help but feel a certain wistfulness, as if I were saying
farewell to the last member of a vanishing tribeā€”the pro-environmental Republican.
The latest salvo in the climate wars had now come to a close. Things would soon enough heat up
again, however.
