Writing and editing for the site was a welcome distraction for me, an opportunity to expound on
the larger issues surrounding climate science and to engage in communication of the science to the
public. It was an opportunity to step back, look at the bigger picture, and gain some needed
perspective. It had the further benefit of providing a vehicle for debunking some of the misinformation
propagating across the Internet regarding the hockey stick

at a time when a new line of attack was
seemingly always around the corner. And the hockey stick ordeal would indeed soon take yet another
unexpected turn.
