probably have become more vulnerable to other environmental changes - both
human and natural - and may subsequently have had a reduced capacity to
recover from other environmental stresses. Some of those reefs - particularly
Kings Reef - may even have crossed environmental thresholds beyond which
their recovery became extremely unlikely.
