to the wetlands in Dalyan and to a drainage channel, which is 1 km away from
Koycegiz Lake. Wastewater from the Dalyan and Koycegiz urban areas is collected
by a separate pipe system. Sewer service will also be constructed in new development
areas in the future. The project also deals with the renovation of the water supply and
distribution systems of Koycegiz and Dalyan.

a social structure and policy that correspond to their development level. Education
level and social awareness have not kept pace with economic developments. 18 Edu-
cation level and social awareness are more developed in Koycegiz than in Dalyan.
There are two high schools and three vocational high schools in Koycegiz. Efforts
are being made to change the existing vocational high school educational program
to a 2-year undergraduate program in aquatic products at the nearby university.
Koycegiz has a library with 4,772 patrons. Young people attend activities at the
public education center.
According to the information gathered by SIS, the population of Koycegiz has
a high percentage of young people between the ages of 10 and 34. The average
household has three to four members. Although the literacy rate is high, most people
are only primary school graduates. The number of men and women is almost the
same but there are three times more literate men that women. University graduates
account for 7% of the population. The number of young people who go on to

activities at an early age. There are two hospitals and six village clinics in the
watershed.
