distribution as well as soil type, a comparison of soil types and land use is made in
the study by overlaying the two maps, as shown in Figure 9.5.4D. 4
Lime-free brown soil, which is characterized by high clay content and sometimes
stony clay texture with pebbles, is the dominant soil type in the area. The second
major type of soil, the Mediterranean red-brown soil composed of hard limestone,
granite, and rocks, is typically found in dry climate conditions. 4
