oriented programming, GUIs, database engines, and artificial intelligence are avail-
able for user interface development. A good user interface is very difficult and in
some cases expensive to develop. To design and develop a user interface that is
better than needed is a waste of time and manpower. In some cases it is even
unfeasible to develop a user interface. The friendlier a user interface gets, the more
difficult its development. An example of a hydrodynamic model user interface and
its interaction is illustrated in Figure 8.5.
