of 14 C-labeled DDT observed in three soils with different properties. In the low-
porosity Gilat soil (silt loam), the flow rate was slow and little DDT transport
occurred; only 3 % of the amount applied reached a depth of 5.4 cm. In the sandy
loam Bet-Dagan soil, considerable DDT transport was observed. In this case, the
flow rate was higher and the organic colloids were more mobile: 18 % of the
