No conclusion could be reached if the millennium-old simulations were
not available to make the difference. Figure 5.8 of the AR5 shows results of
simulations where global temperature reconstructions are affected by
fuzziness which is unfortunately hardly legible. As far as can be discerned,
the simulated temperatures are closer to our Figure 7.5 regarding a forced
identification than to Figure 7.2, which would doubtlessly reproduce large
climatic events better, especially around the year 1000. Moreover, we will
not go back over the statistical analysis which invalidate the IPCC's crucial
hypothesis whereby sensitivity to solar activity is insignificant.
