increases due to higher river flows in late winter, a population of Prorocentrum
is found trapped in the bottom layer where it can be moved northward under
the influence of the near-bed density-driven flow. Towards the end of spring,
shown in Fig. 9.15c , cells are located in the upper part of the Bay, later forming
surface blooms through the summer (Fig. 9.15d ) which can then be advected
