criticism is that soil climate is used at the suborder level in ST and that soil climate
is a valid soil property. It is a transient soil property, but so is pH and base
saturation. However, the soil moisture and soil temperature regimes that were
established by the founders of ST may not be applicable to areas outside the
USA. Particular criticism is leveled against the Aqu- suborders, with the argument
being that these soils should be included in separate orders, e.g., Gleysols,
Fluvisols, Planosols, Stagnosols, etc. (Table
27.2
).
