primary packing voids were occasionally identified. The structure of the glossic
horizon is subangular blocky in 90 % of the pedons.
The glossic horizon generally has properties intermediate between the overlying
E and the underlying Bt (Table 16.1 ). The amount of SOC is greater in the E than in
the glossic or underlying Bt. Additionally, the glossic horizon tends to have a low
bulk density.
