In-Depth Information
Airplane: Heathrow Airport is London's largest and will be your most likely arrival point
if coming from overseas. It can be accessed by the Tube, so that would be your most af-
fordable option for getting to the city. Expect to pay £4 for a single journey from the city to
this airport or £2.80 if you use your Oyster Card. Some airport transfer companies (buses)
that operate out of Heathrow and other London airports are National Express and EasyBus .
Prices vary.
Trains coming from outside the city usually arrive at either Kings Cross St. Pancreas Sta-
tion or Waterloo Station, which are both in the city center, so it's just a matter of taking the
Tube to your final destination from there.
Buses usually come into Victoria Station, which again is in the city center, so it's just a
matter of catching the Tube from that station to get to your final destination.
Useful local phrases
While you might speak English, the Queen's English could be a tad different from your
version. Remember to say rubbish instead of trash, Tube or underground instead of subway
or metro, toilets instead of bathroom and things like that.
Nightlife
London is one of the biggest party cities in the world. You can find almost any pub in any
area packed most nights of the week. We take you to two of the city's biggest party areas
on this tour, Camden Town and Soho. Other than them, Chelsea and Mayfair have a few
very exclusive bars and clubs, like Mahiki, and Shoreditch is known as the hip area of the
city these days.
