RAC DIAG
RACDIAG.SQL is a script downloadable from Oracle support MOS 135714.1. This script contains queries that will help
diagnose various areas of the RAC instance and the cluster. The script was originally intended to diagnose hung
sessions; however, its potential is much greater.
Among these scripts and outputs generated by the RACDIAG.SQL utility, the section that contains information
regarding WAITING SESSIONS is very important in providing details of any serious issues.
Apart from the RAC diagnostic scripts, which help capture performance-related data, Oracle also provides
another set of diagnostic steps for troubleshooting inter-instance performance. Although Oracle metalink Note
18489.1 is titled “Tuning inter-instance performance in RAC and OPS,” it has a good amount of detail that helps
troubleshoot interconnect issues.
ORACHK
ORACHK (Oracle check) is a new utility available from Oracle support to validate the Oracle environment and
collect configuration information. The tool currently supports single instance, RAC, Exadata, and Oracle E-Business
(EBS) suite implementations. The utility could be implemented to run as a single run or can be scheduled to run
automatically at predefined intervals. The utility provides the following capabilities:
It runs one node at a time and runs across all nodes in the cluster, checking all required
configuration parameters and O/S-level prerequisites.
The proactive method helps, simplifies, and streamlines how to investigate and analyze which
known issues present a risk to you.
The utility is itself lightweight. It runs as user Oracle and does not require any configuration or
schemas to be created.
The report produced by this tool allows you to drill down to specific areas of the configuration
and validate information.
When the utility is configured to run automatically at predefined intervals, it can be configured
to send e-mail notifications when it detects problems.
Collection Manager, a companion Application Express web app, provides a single dashboard
view of collections across your entire enterprise.
The utility can be downloaded from Oracle support MOS 1268927.2. Once the utility is downloaded to the
appropriate cluster node, assign the execute privileges and invoke it using the following command. The output
following is cluster information from a five-node 12c RAC implementation:
oracle@ssky1l4p1]$ ./orachk -a -o V
