in the following sections only the primary components are discussed. Discussions of all the components are

Note
The Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR)
OCR is a cluster repository used to maintain application resources and their availability within the RAC environment.
The repository is a file created on the shared-storage subsystem (illustrated in Figure 16-1 ) during Oracle GI installation.
OCR contains the high availability (HA) rules for the various resources managed by the clusterware.
These rules are maintained and updated by one of several client applications: server control utility ( srvctl) ,
cluster-ready services utility ( crsctl ), 1 Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), ASM Configuration Assistant ( asmca ),
Database Configuration Assistant ( dbca ), and the network configuration assistant ( netca ).
1 Cluster-ready services utility provides several command-line functions such as register, unregister, start, stop, etc.
