Configuring the MTU for the NIC improved the overall performance of the interconnect and reduced the waits
for tickets. The output in Figure 14-8 illustrates that packet sizes higher than 1,500 using jumbo frames has improved
the performance of the network traffic.

The overall interconnect latency did improve, and the performance was acceptable. The ethtool output illustrates
that the current network setup is a GigE interface. Network technology today has improved several folds so
that organizations now have several options to get the best throughput. One can increase the bandwidth of the
interconnect by using higher speed networks such as 10GigE or InfiniBand.
