Database Reference
In-Depth Information
The next step in the processing of the workload capture is to get the same ready for replay in the new
preproduction environment.
Workload Processing
The information in the capture files located in a directory identified by RATDIR (see Figure 5-6 ) needs to be processed
after the captured files are moved to the preproduction environment.
Step 10
Part of the workload processing is to prepare the new preproduction database. In Figure 5-8 , Prepare Test Database
contains an option to prepare the test database for testing. Preparing the database involves restoring the database
from the backup prior to the capture process. We discussed this in Step 1 earlier.
Figure 5-8. OEM—Prepare Test Database
After the database is restored with the backup taken as part of Step 1 in the workshop, the next step (Figure 5-8 )
would be to prepare the workload for replay. Clicking on Prepare for Replay will expand the selection. Select the first
option, Preprocess Workload, to preprocess the data for replay.
Step 11
The first screen (Figure 5-9 ) under the Preprocess Captured Workload section is to identify or locate the workload
directory. In this workshop, as discussed in Step 7, a shared NFS mount point is used to store the capture files. Due to
this, the “Use an existing workload directory on this host” option is used.
