If both tasks are completed, acknowledge the two prerequisites and click Next.

The next screen (not shown) is the Options screen. Two primary options are available: to restart the database before
beginning the capture and to provide rule-based filtering around the capture process to either exclude or include
parts of the database activity (Figure 5-5 ). Once complete, click Next.

To capture a clean operation from the start to finish, it would be ideal to restart the database before starting the
capture process. This will avoid starting the capture process in between an in-flight operation, which could adversely
affect the replay. This may not be possible in certain situations, especially when a workload from a live production
environment is being captured. Under such circumstances, it would be advised to start a capture when the database
environment has minimal active sessions or activity. When this is required, the capture can be scheduled for a later
period when the database activity is more realistic.
