loading issues that are not addressed in ASCE 7-10. As such, the methods
and approaches presented in Chapter 13 are offered as guidance and do not
constitute an offi cial interpretation of ASCE 7-10.
For ease of reference, the Appendix contains snow load provisions of
ASCE 7-10. Frequent users of these provisions may choose to read the guide
chapters while occasionally referring to the actual code in the Appendix. Read-
ers who are not familiar with these provisions should read the corresponding
code section in the Appendix before beginning a new guide chapter.
A note about fi gures, tables, and equations presented in this guide: All
the fi gures, tables, and equations of Section 7 of ASCE 7-10 are identifi ed with
Arabic numbers (e.g., Figure 7-2, Table 7-4, Equation 7-3). To avoid confu-
sion, the fi gures, tables, and equations that are unique to this guide are identi-
fi ed in bold print and with a “G” before the chapter number (e.g., Figure G3-2,
Table G6-3, Equation G10-1 ).
