With the surrounding peaks loaded with powder, winter visitors should jump at the
chance to explore the local ski resorts. Accessed from RN3, the resorts offer both down-
hill and cross-country options. The ski season runs from June to September, with July
(winter vacation) the busiest month.

Fun and incredibly scenic, the largest resort is 26km via RN3 from Ushuaia, with 15
runs spanning 400 hectares and a number of lodges with cafes and even a hip sushi bar.
Rentals are available for skis, boards and cross-country skis. Multiday and shoulder-sea-
son tickets are discounted. Clear windbreaks are added to lifts on cold days.

Snowshoe a
beautiful alpine valley or dog sled with Siberian and Alaskan huskies bumping across Ti-
erra Mayor. For a memorable night, combine either with an evening bonfire (AR$650 to
A$800). Also does guided snowcat rides. It's 19km from Ushuaia via RN3.
