Getting There & Away
LADE
(
432055; San Martín 1065)
flies to El Calafate, Río Gallegos, Río Grande and
Ushuaia.
The
bus terminal
(access road to RN43)
sits behind the YPF rotunda at the northern en-
trance to town. Taxis (AR$15) provide the only transport between here and the town cen-
ter, other than a flat 15-minute walk. Buses leave a few times daily for Los Antiguos
(AR$52, 40 minutes), though departure times aren't reliable as they're usually scheduled
to connect with incoming buses from RN40, which are often delayed. In the afternoon,
starting at 3:50pm, multiple buses also head for Comodoro Rivadavia (AR$217, six
hours) and Río Gallegos (AR$551, 16 hours) via RN3.
Several shuttle services also offering excursions serve travelers on RN40. From
to Bariloche (11 hours), departing from Hotel Belgrano in Perito Moreno at 8pm on
even-numbered days. Shuttles leave Hotel Belgrano at 8am to head south to El Chaltén
(11 hours) on odd-numbered days.
The bus company
Taqsa/Marga
( 432675)
now runs the entire stretch of RN40
between El Calafate and Bariloche several times a week starting at the end of October,
stopping at El Chaltén, Bajo Caracoles, Perito Moreno and Esquel along the way.
