Gwalia Lan ARGENTINE $$$

12:30-3pm Sun) Gwalia Lan is considered Gaiman's best restaurant; it serves homemade
pasta and well-seasoned meat dishes that are consistently good. Service is attentive.
Ty Nain TEAHOUSE
(Yrigoyen 283; tea AR$95; closed May) It's been years since Ty Nain was written up in the
Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, but the endorsements are still plastered on the
front lawn. Inside an ivy-clad 1890 home, Ty Nain persists as one of the country's most
traditional teahouses. The adjoining museum has some interesting Welsh artifacts.
Ty Gwyn TEAHOUSE
( 499-1009; 9 de Julio 111; tea AR$110) A favorite of locals, this white house serves cakes,
jams and breads that are all homemade and fresh, always . With 30 years in business.
Ty Cymraeg TEAHOUSE
( 449-1010; www.gaimantea.com ; Matthews 74; tea AR$110) Teatime in this riverside house
includes sumptuous pies and jams. The youngest member of the Welsh family that owns
the place, an energetic 20-something named Miguel, is happy to explain Welsh traditions
- from poetry competitions to the significance of carved wooden 'love spoons' -and his
knowledge adds significantly to the experience.
Plas y Coed TEAHOUSE
( 449-1133; www.plasycoed.com.ar ; Jones 123; tea AR$110) Run by the original owner's
great-granddaughter in a gorgeous brick mansion, Plas y Coed pleases the palette and
senses, with friendly service, fresh cakes and serious crochet cozies for that steaming-hot
pot. Rooms are also available for rent (doubles AR$280.)
