Orientation
The center is between the highway and the river. Don't confuse Av San Martín, runs on
the west side of Plaza San Martín, with Félix San Martín, two blocks west.

Club Andino Junín de los Andes (cnr Milanesio & Suárez local 3; 9am-6pm daily in sum-
mer, 3pm-6pm Mon-Fri rest of year) Behind the tourist office, this mountaineering club
provides information on the Volcán Tromen climb as well as other excursions within the
Parque Nacional Lanín.

Enthusiastically helpful staff. Fishing permits and a list of licensed fishing guides avail-
able.
Getting There & Away
Junín and San Martín de los Andes share Chapelco airport, which lies midway between
the two towns. There are regularly scheduled flights to Buenos Aires and Neuquén. A re-
mise into town should run you about AR$60. Another option is walking the 1km out to
the highway and flagging down a passing bus (AR$15, 25 minutes).
The bus terminal ( 02792-492038; cnr Olavarría & Félix San Martín) is three blocks from
the main plaza. El Petróleo goes three times a week to Aluminé (AR$32, three hours).
