To get to Aluminé you must first change buses in Zapala or Junín de los Andes (where
there are three departures per week).
Igi-Llaima ( 02972-428878) takes RP60 over Paso Tromen (also known as Mamuil
Malal) to Temuco, Chile (AR$180, six hours), passing the majestic Volcán Lanín en
route; sit on the left for views.
From San Martín there is direct service in summer via RN231 over Paso Cardenal A
Samoré (Puyehue) to Osorno and Puerto Montt in Chile.

Getting Around
Chapelco airport ( Click here ) is midway between San Martín and Junín. Any bus heading
north out of San Martín can drop you at the entrance.
Transportation options slim down during low season. In summer Transportes Airen
goes twice daily to Puerto Canoa on Lago Huechulafquen (AR$35) and will stop at
campgrounds en route. Albus ( 02972-428100) goes to the beach at Playa Catrite on
Lago Lácar (AR$18) several times daily, while Transportes Ko-Ko (
02972-427422)
runs four buses daily to Lago Lolog (AR$18) in summer only.
San Martín has no lack of car-rental agencies.
