At Cerro Campanario the Aerosilla Campanario ( 0294-442-7274; return AR$70;
9am-5:30pm) lifts passengers to a panoramic view of Lago Nahuel Huapi.
Llao Llao's Puerto Pañuelo is the point of departure for the boat and bus excursion
across the Andes to Chile, as well as to Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes on Península
Quetrihué.
Even if you don't plan to spend a night in Hotel Llao Llao ( 0294-444-8530;
www.llaollao.com.ar ; d from AR$2464; ) , arguably Argentina's most famous hotel,
take a stroll around the grounds. From Llao Llao you can head across to Colonia Suiza ,
named for its early Swiss colonists. A modest confitería has excellent pastries, and there
are several campgrounds and even a hostel.
The road passes the trailhead to 2076m Cerro López , a three-hour climb, before re-
turning to Bariloche. At the top of Cerro López it's possible to spend the night at the
Refugio López (
0294-15-4584459; www.cerrolopez.com ; dm about AR$90;
mid-
Dec-mid-Apr) , where meals are also available.
Although travel agencies offer the Circuito Chico as a half-day tour (AR$115 through
most agencies in Bariloche), it's easily done on public transportation or, if you're up for a
60km pedal, by bicycle. Less enthusiastic cyclists can hop a bus to Km18.6 and rent a
bike at Bike Cordillera ( 0294-452-4828; www.cordillerabike.com ; AR$120 per day;
9am-6pm) . This way you'll bike much less, avoid busy Av Bustillo and take advantage of
the loop's more scenic sections. Call ahead to reserve a bike.
