In-Depth Information
( 0266-442-5794; www.vistasuites.com.ar ; Av Illia 526; s/d from AR$770/890; )
The latest addition to San Luis' seemingly saturated business hotel scene features way-
slick design, a gourmet restaurant, day spa, indoor pool and all the other comforts you'd
expect for the price.
Eating & Drinking
Traditional San Luis dishes include empanadas de horno (baked empanadas) and cazuela
de gallina (chicken soup).
There are numerous laid-back bars along Av Illia. As is the deal all over the country,
they start late and end late. Go for a stroll and see which one you like.
Maria Bonita MEXICAN $
(Illia 392; mains from AR$50; noon-2am; ) Decent Mexican food can be hard to come
by in Argentina, and this place is about as good as it gets. Big sizzling fajita platters are a
winner, as is the selection of Mexican beers and tequilas.
Aranjuez CAFE $
(cnr Pringles & Rivadavia; mains AR$40-70; 8am-11:30pm; ) A fairly standard cafe-bar-
restaurant on the plaza, this one gets a mention for the sidewalk tables out on the pedes-
trian thoroughfare which make it a great spot for drinks, snacks and people-watching.
Orientation
On the north bank of the Río Chorrillos, San Luis is 260km from Mendoza via RN7 and
456km from Córdoba via RN148.
The commercial center is along the parallel streets of San Martín and Rivadavia
between Plaza Pringles in the north and Plaza Independencia in the south. Most services
for travelers are within a few blocks of the plaza, with the exception of the bus terminal.
Information
Several banks, mostly around Plaza Pringles, have ATMs.
