Getting There & Away
The bus terminal is a few blocks uphill from the main street. Buses leave every hour for
Córdoba (AR$45, two hours), and daily for Buenos Aires (AR$485, 11 hours). There are
seven departures daily for La Cumbrecita (AR$34, one hour).
WORTH A TRIP
OKTOBERFEST IN VILLA GENERAL BELGRANO
If you're in the Sierras around the start of October, consider hitting Villa General
Belgrano, which celebrates its German heritage with a 10-day, nationally recog-
nized Oktoberfest. While the beer runs as freely as it does at Oktoberfests all over
the world, there are also parades, endless concerts and other cultural presenta-
tions. The festival also features so much delicious street food that you'll be loosen-
ing a couple of buttons on your Lederhosen, even if you're not a drinker.

La Cumbrecita

The pace of life slows waaaay down in this alpine-styled village, nestled in the forest in
the Valle de Calamuchita. The tranquility is largely thanks to the town's pedestrian-only
policy. It's a great place to kick back for a few days and wander the forest trails leading
to swimming holes, waterfalls and scenic lookouts.
Visitors must park their cars in the dirt parking lot (AR$50) before crossing the bridge
over Río del Medio by foot.

Sights & Activities
Hiking is the best reason to visit La Cumbrecita. Short trails are well marked and the
tourist office can provide a crude but useful map of the area. A 25-minute stroll will take
you to
La Cascada
, a waterfall tucked into the mountainside.
La Olla
is the closest
swimming hole, surrounded by granite rocks (people jump where it's deep enough).
Cerro La Cumbrecita
(1400m) is the highest point in town, about a 20-minute walk
