Sights & Activities
A few places around town rent bikes (around AR$50 per day) - the tourist office should
be able to tell you who can hook you up.
Head to the south side of town to the 12km stretch of road known as
Camino de los
Artesanos
, where more than two dozen homes sell homemade goodies, from jams and
chutneys to wool, leather and silver crafts. Most homes open from 11am to sunset.
There are excellent views from the
Cristo Redentor
, a 7m statue of Christ on a 300m
hilltop east of town; from the Plaza 25 de Mayo, cross the river and walk east on Cór-
doba toward the mountains - the trail begins after a quick jut to the left after crossing
Cabrera.
Flying from the launch at Cuchi Corral (and hanging out by the Río Pinto afterward) is
truly a memorable experience. The launch site (La Rampa) is about 10km west of town
via a signed dirt road off the highway.

Tandem flights cost AR$600 for a half-hour; full courses cost AR$6000.

A couple of blocks behind the bus terminal, this converted Eng-
lish mansion is one of the most impressive hostels in the Sierras. Views from the front
balcony are superb.
