Up-
stairs in a lovely old house, this very pleasant hostel offers ten-bed dorms with lockers
and ok-value private bunk rooms with air-con. There's a pool table and excellent bath-
room facilities, bar service and a kitchen; everything's spotless. Management is helpful
and friendly.

; Lola Mora 92, Yerba Buena; s/d/q AR$250/350/550;
)
Six kilometers west of the center in the upmarket barrio of Yerba Buena, this is
a welcome retreat. Comfortably rustic rooms surround a relaxing garden space complete
with hammocks, bar service and mini-pool. Yerba Buena has good restaurants and night-
life. Grab a taxi (AR$35) or bus 102 or 118 from opposite the bus terminal.
The street is off Av Aconquija (at 1100): the Banco Galicia is on the corner. They also
have bikes for hire. Ask about their rustic cabins in a spectacular off-piste setting near
Amaicha del Valle.
Tucumán Center
HOTEL $$$
( 452-5555;

;
25 de Mayo 230; s/d AR$690/780; )
It's hard to fault this upmarket, business-class hotel bang in the center. Service and facil-
ities - including an outdoor pool and access to a proper gym just down the road - are
first-rate, and the huge beds are mighty comfortable. Suites come with space to spare and
a bathtub with bubbles. This place offers excellent value.
