Getting Around
El Cadillal airport is 33km east of the center. A shuttle service ( 15-432-2482; AR$45)
leaves from the cathedral to coincide with flights, otherwise it's AR$200 in a remise .
If you're after a rental car, Avis ( 424-9800; www.avis.com ; Güemes 864) or Hertz (
422-9582; www.hertz.com ; San Martín 944) are central; there are also branches at the airport.

Las Yungas
Jujuy province's eastern portion is a humid, fertile subtropical zone where arid, treeless
altiplano gives way to montane forest and, in places, dense cloudforest. Two national
parks, with abundant, colorful birdlife and harder-to-spot mammals such as pumas, tapirs
and jaguars, allow you to explore this ecosystem.
Parque Nacional Calilegua
This accessible, beautiful, biodiverse park stretches up the Serranía de Calilegua range to
peaks offering boundless views above the forest and across El Chaco to the east.
The spectacular 22km road through the park ascends from 550m to 1700m, taking you
through the three types of forest that characterize the park's different altitude layers and
offering spectacular views.
Along this road are trailheads for nine marked hikes, from 10-minute strolls to tough
descents down to river level. The best places for bird and mammal watching are near the
stream courses in the early morning or late afternoon. Most trailheads are within easy
walking distance of the park entrance. Rangers offer guiding services on the longer trails.
From Valle Grande, beyond the park boundaries to the west, it's possible to hike in a
week to Humahuaca along the Sierra de Zenta, or to Tilcara.
