From here, you could return a longer way (20km total): bear left past the church and
then take a left down the road signposted to Las Trancas. This winds around the valley
and eventually crosses the river; shortly afterwards, turn left at the church (heading right
leads 2km to the lovely Algarrobal campground); and this will lead you back to Cachi
via the hamlet of La Aguada. This section is spectacular in the late afternoon.

mended local guide for hiking and mountaineering trained in mountain rescue and first
aid. He's the man to speak to if you want to tackle the rather imposing Nevado de Cachi
peak.
Urkupiña OUTDOORS

cursions, trips to Cachi Adentro or nearby archaeological sites for around AR$100 to
AR$150, and longer jaunts along RN40 in both directions; this can be a good way to
reach Cafayate (AR$300).

Nevado de Cachi GUESTHOUSE $

plaza, this is decent budget choice has rooms around a grapevine-draped patio. Beds are
comfortable, and bathrooms - both shared and private - work well enough. Prices are
slightly negotiable and vary by room; the dearer upstairs ones are the best. Overall, a bar-
gain. Breakfast not included.
La Mamama HOSTEL $

end of a central street, with kitchen use, simple rooms with saggy mattresses and a
Cachi-casual feel.
