Sleeping
There are numerous summer campgrounds, cabins, bungalows and apartments available
for rent. Look for signs saying 'Alquilo a turistas.' The tourist office can supply you with
a list of official accommodations.
La Casona de Susana HOSTEL, GUESTHOUSE $

AR$300; ) Run with a kind heart rather than ruthless efficiency, this is an unusual
and welcoming hostel between the bus terminal and the river. Shared or private accom-
modations are available in three different room grades - from simple but serviceable en
suite dorms to plush, colorful modern rooms. There's a pretty pool out back (extra for the
cheapest rate) and kitchen use.
ENTERING URUGUAY
There are three main crossings linking Argentina with its eastern neighbor
Uruguay. From south to north these are Gualeguaychú-Fray Bentos,
Colón-Paysandú (cars pay an AR$60 toll on this bridge) and Concordia-Salto. All
three are open 24 hours.

what has a strong claim to be Colón's loveliest house (on its prettiest street), this has
characterful rooms decorated faithfully in the style of the 1880 building, with enormous
windows, plenty of wood and noble rustic furniture. Family duplexes (AR$650) are a
good deal, as are midweek discounts. There's a restaurant serving good dinners, and a
heated pool and Jacuzzi out back. No cards.
