Getting There & Away
The bus terminal (cnr Av 3 & Paseo 140) is 30 blocks south of the town center. Destinations
include Buenos Aires (AR$226 to AR$252, 5¼ hours) and Mar del Plata (AR$55, two
hours). You can buy bus tickets in the town center at Central de Pasajes (
472480; cnr
Av 3 & Paseo 107) , which saves you a trip to the bus terminal.
For Pinamar, take El Rápido's direct bus (AR$20, 30 minutes) or Montemar's hourly
local service (AR$14.50, 45 minutes) via Cariló, Valeria and Ostende.
Local buses into town (AR$4, 15 minutes) leave every 20 minutes from a shelter just
across Av 3 from the long-distance terminal.

MAR CHIQUITA
A humble and windy little gem, the beachside village of Mar Chiquita is home to Al-
búfera Mar Chiquita , a 35km-long lagoon with huge biodiversity - over 220 bird and
55 fish species live within its waters. There's good fishing in the area, and the
beach is popular with windsurfers and kiteboarders - or just for hanging out for a
bit.
Half a block in from the lagoon, Hostería Bariloche ( 0223-469-1254;
www.hosteriabariloche.com.ar ; cnr Beltran & Echeverría; r per person AR$170; ) is a friendly,
family-run place with 10 rooms and apartments. It also rents wind-sports equip-
ment and gives lessons when conditions in the lagoon permit. Campers can head
to Camping Santa Rosa (
0223-469-1300; cnr Rivera del Sol & playa; 4-person campsites
AR$150).
