Activities
The
Dique del Fuerte
, only 12 blocks south of Plaza Independencia, is a huge reservoir
that you can easily walk around in a couple of hours. In summer, the Balneario Municip-
al runs several
swimming pools
and you can rent
canoes
and
kayaks
. There are also a
few restaurants nestled along its shoreline.
Gabriel Barletta

offers
excellent four-hour horseback rides in the Reserva Natural Sierra del Tigre or other sur-
rounding areas. For details on other outdoor activities around town, including bike rent-
als, trekking, canoeing, rappelling, mountain biking and rock climbing, ask the tourist of-
fice for its comprehensive list of tour operators and rental agencies.
Sleeping
Reservations are a must during summer, Easter week and holiday weekends. If you have
your own transport, the many
cabañas
(cabins) along Av Don Bosco are a good option -
the tourist office provides lists of fully equipped cabins, many of which have pools.

The marginal dorms at this centrally located
hostel are somewhat redeemed by bright and attractive common areas with colorful tiles,
high ceilings and other historical features. Two dorms have six beds, one has eight; avoid
the lone 18-bed dorm and the private doubles, which offer poor value for money.
