Regions at a Glance
Iguazú Falls & the Northeast
Wide Rivers, Mighty Iguazú
Towns and cities along the region's two major rivers are focused on great water- side
strips for boating, strolling, eating and partying, while large fish attract anglers. Up north,
Iguazú, the world's most impressive waterfalls, will leave you in awe.
Cute Capybaras
The Esteros del Iberá wetlands hold an astonishing wealth of creatures, including snap-
ping caimans, colorful bird life and roly-poly capybaras. A long hop north brings you to
Iguazú's national park and jungle ecosystem, equally rich in distinct wildlife species.
Carnaval
Brazil's proximity to this zone has left a legacy in the exuberant Carnaval celebrations.
The most famous is in little Gualeguaychú, a short trip from Buenos Aires, but Corri-
entes and Posadas lose nothing by comparison.
