grown increasingly raucous with the influx of out-of-town visitors. Even so, La Pedrera
remains downright sleepy outside the summer months, with most hotels and tourist ser-
vices closing between May and October.

street, 200m from the OSE water tank (La Pedrera's most prominent landmark), a five-

low-key eco-resort 2km south of town, 30 spacious thatch-roofed cabañas, yurts and
canvas-walled tents with wooden decks and hammocks are sprinkled throughout a land-
scape of coastal 'badlands' (cárcavas) leading to a windswept surfing beach. Dine beside
the circular pool at the on-site restaurant, which features fresh-caught fish, organic pro-
duce from Pueblo Barrancas' own gardens, and locally foraged mushrooms.
