at dinnertime, the cozy interior dining room, with its view of the blazing fire, is equally

From Salto's Nueva Hespérides airport, 6km south of town, BQB Lineas Aereas (
4733-8919; www.flybqb.com ; Brasil 819, Centro) flies four times weekly to Montevideo's Car-
rasco airport (1¼ hours), with onward connections to Buenos Aires (2½ hours). BQB
also offers Tuesday and Saturday service to Asunción, Paraguay (1¾ hours), and Sunday
and Thursday service to Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil (1¾ hours), with three-night air-plus-hotel
deals starting at US$380 per person. Flights listed above operate between March and
December only.
