Getting Around
Walking is enjoyable in compact Colonia, but motor scooters, bicycles and gas-powered
buggies are popular alternatives. Thrifty ( 4522-2939; Av General Flores 172; bicycle/scoot-
er/golf cart per hr US$3/10/14, per 24hr US$10/25/50) rents out everything from beater bikes
to cars. Several other agencies rent cars and motorbikes just near the bus and ferry ter-
minals, including Multicar/Moto Rent ( www.redmulticar.com ; Manuel de Lobos 505) , Punta
Car ( www.puntacar.com.uy ; cnr 18 de Julio & Rivera) and Europcar ( www.europcar.com.uy ; Av
Artigas 152) . The latter company offers one-way car rentals between Colonia and Mon-
tevideo.
Local COTUC buses go to the beaches and bullring at Real de San Carlos (UR$17)
from along Av General Flores.
