topping lift : a halyard (rope) attached to the outer end of the boom and the top of mast
which is used to hold the weight of the boom while reefing or when not in use
topsides : any part of the hull above the waterline
trades : trade winds, prevailing winds
transom : the extreme back of the hull

turnbuckle : a device located between the chain plate on the hull and the cable that is at-
tached to the mast which is used to adjust tension

winch : a metal barrel-shaped device used for handling heavy warps, sheets, and lines
yaw : to zigzag back and forth uncontrolled
