Klipspringer with Rubber like Hooves for Climbing Rocks
Euphorbias
Hence black rhinos and klipspringers are often seen at the overlook site between Lower
Sabie and Tshokwane where there are many euphorbia trees. Hunting under CITES is allowed
for five black rhino per year in South Africa and five in Namibia. Hunting of white rhino
started in 1968 to help finance restoration of the population. At that time there were 1800
white rhino and by 2005 there were 13,500, with an offtake for hunting of 0.5%. Rhinos can
increase their population at a rate of up to 15% per year if the area where they are is at less
than 50% of carrying capacity, which can be accurately calculated. Indeed, in the Kruger Park
the population of some 12,120 white rhino has been growing at an annual rate of 11% a year.
