Traders Hotel Singapore
Traders doesn't look like a v alue-for-money hotel,
with its smar tly designed lobb y and restaurants, but that's how it adv ertises itself—and
it's certainly a bargain for leisure travelers in Singapore. Most of the rooms are moderately
small, although there are five triple rooms with child-size sofa beds. Superior (standard)
rooms are located on the lo wer floors, with their D eluxe counterparts benefiting fr om
slightly better vie ws. The only major pr oblem with Traders (and its neighbors) is the
distance fr om the main par t of O rchard R oad and the sub way, but they do offer an
hourly fr ee shuttle bus to and fr om O rchard MRT and Ngee Ann/T akashimaya, and
weekday shuttles to various business parks. Better still, this value hotel has a cross-signing
arrangement with the nearb y Shangri-La hotel and the Rasa S entosa resort on S entosa
Island, giving you access to their awesome pools, spas, and fitness centers, plus the latter's
beachfront location.

York Hotel Singapore
This charming little hotel has got ev en better in the past
year, thanks to a modernization pr ogram that 's smar tened up the 407 r ooms and
extended the business and fitness facilities. P ale, contemporar y furnishings in neutral
colors lend a calming atmospher e to the guest r ooms. Superior rooms aren't particularly
large, so if you want more space, upgrade to one of the spacious deluxe or colorful cabana
rooms that look out over the pool. The York's location, 10 minutes' walk from Orchard
Road, offers a good compromise between accessibility and a moderately relaxing environ-
ment. Staff here is extremely professional and cour teous. All these impr ovements mean
that rates have risen to match and the York isn't the steal it used to be, but it r emains a
consistently good v alue option. The buffet br eakfast seems to be dispr oportionately
expensive—try to get an inclusive rate or head to O rchard Road instead.
