The result for gender is also highly signiicant, with p -value listed as 0.000
(see bottom; dashed arrow in Figure 8.7 ). This indicates that we conclude that
mean sophistication is not the same for each gender. It turns out that Mademoi-
selle La La Founder Mary Flynn Myers was right after all, despite the protest by
Cinny Bittle.
Now, if we examine the S-N-K test for age groups, we ind the same result as in
Chapter 6 (where we irst performed the S-N-K test). The true (sophistication) mean
of age group 1 is judged as different from the mean of each of the other four columns;
also, the means of age groups 5 and 4 are judged to be the same, but both higher than
that of group 1; inally, the means of age groups 2 and 3 are judged to be the same,
but both higher than that of the other three age groups.
Now, let us look at the output for the S-N-K test for gender. This is shown in
Figure 8.8 .
