5.4 MEANWHILE, BACK AT BACKBOARD…
Basically, the cumulative effect of the data analysis has conirmed that the basics of
course management—inding and registering for a course—are not a problem for
your typical user (which we did not formally test, but simply infer from the success
rates of 9 out of 10 and 8 out of 10, respectively), but the tangential functionality
is problematic. For example, you found no usability issues whatsoever regarding
registering, but at least three suspected, or potential, whoppers (these were not for-
mally hypothesis-tested either) related to inding background course material in the
“Library” section of the site.
As expected, during your presentation of test results, Buzzkill is still harping on
re-registering:
“OK, we know we've got issues with the Library section,” Buzzkill admits.
“What about re-registering?”
“It's obviously problematic,” you respond. But we got almost the same task com-
pletion rate as we got for the waiting list. We should improve both.
“You're telling me the waiting list and re-registering are equally problematic?”
Buzzkill asks incredulously.
