You're currently taking a course called “Analyt-
ics for Decision Making.” You turned in your
irst homework assignment, but never got the
graded assignment back from the professor.
You're wondering if anyone else did. What's
the quickest way to ask all of your classmates
without resorting to e-mail?

In preparation for your course “Managing Finan-
cial Information” (that you just registered for),
you'd like to read up on recent trends in hedge
funds. Where would you go to ind this kind of
background material?

as evidenced by the high success tally for those tasks. But the more tangential
functionality—inding related course material, rating a course, communicating with
classmates—doesn't seem ready for prime time, looking at the success tally for the
related tasks. And, what about re-registering? Buzzkill said it was in bad shape, but
getting on the waiting list looks almost as bad.
“But wait,” you think to yourself, “Is there really a signiicant difference in
completion rates between getting on a waiting list (Task 5: 6 completions) and re-
registering for a course (Task 8: 5 completions)? Is the difference between 5 and 6
completions really meaningful?” Hmmm! If we knew that the true rates of comple-
tion were 60% and 50%, respectively, that would be a meaningful difference. But, of
course, we don't know this, and perhaps we cannot infer that there is any difference
at all in the true completion rates. We'll ind out.
The questions rumble around in your head as you continue to write up your
test results, adding screen shots, verbatim quotes, and Likert scale results. But you
know Buzzkill is going to pop his head into your ofice at any minute and ask you
about the completion rates, and what they mean. You've got to be ready for his
questions.
